Poetry readings to be hosted on Saturday
VERGENNES — In celebration of National Poetry Month, Northern Daughters, on 221 Main St., will host a poetry reading by two local poets on April 22 at 5:30 p.m. Karla Van Vliet and Karin Gottshall will give readings for their new work.
Van Vliet’s most recent book is “The River From My Mouth” (Shanti Arts, 2016). She is an Edna St. Vincent Millay Poetry Prize finalist and was nominated for a 2015 Pushcart Prize. Her poems have appeared in Poet Lore, The Tishman Review, Green Mountains Review, Cronnog Magazine and numerous other journals. Van Vliet is a co-founder and editor of deLuge Journal, a literary and arts journal, as well as the administrator of the New England Young Writers’ Conference at Bread Loaf, Middlebury College.
Gottshall’s most recent book is “The River Won’t Hold You” (OhioState University Press, 2014). Her poems have appeared in Crazyhorse, FIELD, The New England Review, and many other journals. She teaches poetry writing at Middlebury College and directs the New England Young Writers’ Conference at Bread Loaf, Middlebury College.
