Panther women’s tennis reaches NCAA quarterfinal

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury College women’s tennis team on Sunday blanked visiting Amherst in an NCAA Division III regional final, 5-0, and as a result advanced for the third straight time and sixth time ever to an NCAA quarterfinal.
The 16-4 Panthers, who reached the semifinal round a year ago, will on Monday play Johns Hopkins in Chattanooga, Tenn., while 12th-ranked Amherst finishes its season at 7-10.
