ADDISON COUNTY — In high school lacrosse earlier this week, the Middlebury girls took a big step toward the No. 1 seed in Division I, while the Vergennes-Mount Abraham boys’ and girls’ teams both lost.
The Otter Valley boys’ last game, at home vs. Hartford on Monday, was canceled. OV finished its regular season at 3-9.
The Tiger boys’ Monday game vs. Essex was postponed and will not be made up. The 6-7 Tigers were set to visit Colchester on Wednesday and host Spaulding on Saturday morning. It appears they will host a first-round playoff game.
The Vermont Principals’ Association will announce playoff pairings on Monday morning.
TIGER GIRLS
On Tuesday the Tiger girls rolled to a 16-4 victory over rival South Burlington, dropping the Rebels to 12-2 and improving to 14-0. Although Mount Anthony (12-0) is also undefeated, the Tigers will earn the No. 1 seed if they win their final two games, both at home, vs. Burr & Burton on Wednesday and Mount Mansfield on Friday. They have played nine road games and will have earned more quality points than the Patriots.
Vs. South Burlington, Andi Boe (four goals, two assists), Isabel Rosenberg (three goal, assist) and Emily LaFramboise (three goals) led the Tiger attack. Kate Donahue, Satchel McLaughlin and Ada Anderson added a goal and an assist apiece, and Lexi Bartlett,Ella Nagy-Benson andSarah Broughton each chipped in a goal. Goalie Raven Payne made four saves, while Rebel goalie Claire Phillips stopped 11 shots.
EAGLE BOYS
On Monday, visiting U-32 defeated the Eagles, 14-8. Owein Labarr (five goals and an assist) and Max Ratti-Bicknell (three goals and an assist) combined for all the goals, and Jack Willis andAddison King picked up assists. Goalie Patrick Davison stopped nine shots for the Eagles, who dropped to 4-7 with two games to go in their regular season. U-32 goalie Chandler Stevens made six saves.
VUHS GIRLS
On Monday, host Stowe outscored the Commodores, 16-9. Ashley Turner’s five goals and six ground balls led VUHS. Jackie Reiss added a goal and two assists; Jalen Cook recorded a goal, an assist and four ground balls; Norah Deming scored one goal and set up another; Chloe Johnston scored a goal and scooped two ground balls; and Sara Pichlmann grabbed three ground balls. VUHS dropped to 0-10 with two games left.
