Ross Sheehan brings his abstract art to Middlebury

A selection of 10 abstract expressionistic monotypes by Ross Sheehan will be on exhibit at Otter Creek Custom Framing’s front gallery in Middlebury now through Aug. 31. Sheehan created the prints for “Swipes and Slashes: Abstract Monotypes” in 2004 over a weekend-long printmaking session at Robert Reynolds’ Blue Hand Studio press in Branford, Conn.
“These unique prints are physical,” Sheehan explained. “They investigate risk taking, execution, speed and process. Themes of spontaneous gestural mark making and ‘happy accidents’ commonly run throughout my printmaking practices to this day.”
Sheehan is a painter, printmaker, sculptor and mixed media artist exhibiting nationally and throughout Vermont. He is currently exhibiting his monotype printmaking in “Just Under 100: New Prints 2017/Summer” at International Print Center New York (IPCNY) in Chelsea, New York.
See more of Sheehan’s work at his studio on Green Street in Vergennes studio — by appointment (or chance). For more info on Sheehan’s work visit rosssheehanart.com or call (775) 303-8863. To reach Otter Creek Custom Framing in Middlebury call (802) 388-2370.
