U-32 strong late vs. Eagle football

EAST MONTPELIER — Host U-32 earned a 33-20 Division II football victory over the Mount Abraham-Vergennes cooperative team on Friday. The Raiders picked up 277 yards on the ground and 147 passing.
The Eagles fell behind by 14-0, but rallied to tie the game at 14-14. The Raiders scored on a short Logan Wedge run after an Eagle fumble gave them the ball at midfield, and then and 18-yard pass from Logan Wolf to Austin Bressett.
The Eagles responded by pounding the ball downfield and getting a scoring run from fullback CaseyKimball and a two-point conversion pass. In the middle of the second quarter Eagle QB Parker Hines hit Will Martin to make it 14-14, a score that stood at halftime.
Wedge scored from 10-yards out in the third to make it 21-14, and the Eagles responded with a drive that was capped by a Kimball halfback-option pass to tight end Kyle Beatty to make it 21-20.
But Wedge scored again to cap another long march, and the Raiders clinched with a late TD pass.
The Eagles will host Windsor, an easy winner over Springfield in its opener, on Friday at 7 p.m.
