BRISTOL — On Aug. 23 at 7:42 p.m., Bristol police were called to the Maplefields-Irving gas station, where a woman was locked in the restroom and not responding.
The officer broke in to the restroom and found the woman breathing but non-responsive. The Bristol Rescue Squad was summoned and the woman transported to Porter Hospital.
In other action Aug. 14 through 27, Bristol police:
•  Conducted town-contracted traffic patrols on Aug. 14, 17, 18, 21 and 27 covering Burpee Road, Monkton and surrounding roads, Plank Road, Carlstrom Road and Route 116. Police issued two tickets and three warnings for speeding. During two hours of Governor’s Highway Safety Occupancy Protection patrol within the police district on Aug. 27, police issued two warnings for stop violations and five warnings for speed violations.
•  Conducted foot patrol on Main Street and in the surrounding area at various times of day on Aug. 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21 (twice), 22, 23 (twice), 24 (twice), 26 and 27 (twice).
•  Conducted security checks of Mount Abraham Union Middle/High School on Aug. 16, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26 and 27.
•  Completed employment-related fingerprint requests on Aug. 14, 16 and 17.
•  On Aug. 14 warned a motorcycle operator about his driving.
•  Assisted Middlebury police with an active criminal investigation on Aug. 14.
•  Secured a business found unlocked on Aug. 14.
•  On Aug. 15, assisted in an active criminal investigation as part of the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
•  Retrieved a dog from along Route 116 on Aug. 16. A passerby was concerned for the dog’s safety. The owner claimed the animal from the Bristol dog pound the next day.
•  Helped look for a missing cat on Aug. 16.
•  Assisted the Bristol Rescue Squad with a medical call at a district residence on Aug. 18.
•  Mediated a dispute between district residents on Aug. 18. A resident reported being harassed by another resident as he walked his dog.
•  Investigated a reported retail theft at a West Street business on Aug. 18. Police identified a juvenile offender, and payment was made for the items.
•  Helped locate a missing service dog on Aug. 19.
•  Assisted the Bristol Rescue Squad with an elderly male who reported difficulty breathing on Aug. 19. The man was transported without incident.
•  Looked into a chemical smell at a district residence on Aug. 20 but could not find the source of the smell.
•  Began investigating, on Aug. 20, a report of fraudulent use of a debit card to activate a Netflix account.
•  On Aug. 21 responded to a motor vehicle crash on East Street; no injuries were reported.
•  On Aug. 21 and Aug. 24 received report from area firearms dealer regarding multiple sales of pistols. The report is required by federal Department of Justice. No problems found.
•  On Aug. 21 spoke with a district resident about how to deal with an unwanted persons coming to his property.
•  On Aug. 21 helped a person get into their locked car on Airport Drive.
•  On Aug. 22 assisted Middlebury police with a forensic examination of a device related to an active criminal investigation.
•  On Aug. 23 calmed an irate person at a local office.
•  On Aug. 23 identified the owner of a cell phone turned in to the town office and returned it.
•  On Aug. 23 were called to a home for an unwanted person, who left without incident.
•  On Aug. 23 responded to a call to a Bristol business regarding a person threatening another; the person was gone upon the officer’s arrival, and police plan to serve a notice against trespass on them.
•  On Aug. 24 an officer assisted another agency with the execution of a search warrant for a criminal investigation.
•  On Aug. 24 an officer noticed an unsecure premise on Liberty Street and when checking found the home had been burglarized. Investigation is ongoing.
•  On Aug. 25 responded to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, where a woman was trapped in the elevator. The woman extricated herself before police arrived.
•  On August 24 at 8:51 p.m. logged a report from a district resident who had heard what sounded like gunshots or fireworks behind his house on North Street. The officer was unable to locate the source of the noise.
•  On Aug. 26 received a report about a car in the driveway of a home that was recently broken into.
•  On Aug. 26 spoke to a person in the police district about a noise party. The property owner said they will refrain from unreasonable noise.
•  On Aug. 27 spoke with a homeowner about constructing a fence to keep their wandering dogs at home.
•  On Aug. 27 checked the welfare of a district resident, who was OK.
