Shoreham to host Civil War talk on Wednesday

SHOREHAM — The Platt Memorial Library will host Vermont author and Civil War historian Howard Coffin On Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. for a presentation on the contributions of Vermonters in the Civil War. From Cedar Creek to Gettysburg, Vermonters were central to the Union cause. Coffin has written five books on the Civil War and given over 300 talks on the subject.
The talk is a Vermont Humanities Council event hosted by the Platt Memorial Library as part of the Orwell and Shoreham Libraries Keynote Speakers Series: Spotlight on Vermont 2017. It is funded through the Humanities Council under a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and a generous local contribution from the Shoreham Historical Society. Light refreshments will be served.
