Otter field hockey falls to Bulldogs

BRANDON — Visiting Burr & Burton edged the Otter Valley Union High School field hockey team on Oct. 6, 1-0, in a Division II matchup.
The loss dropped the Otters to 7-2-1, good for third place in D-II with the 5-3-2 Bulldogs in fourth, heading into OV’s Wednesday game at Windsor and a Saturday game at Springfield.
In the game vs. the Bulldogs the Otters could not put a ball home despite launching 11 shots on BBA goalie Hannah Callen. B&B’s Sabina Buffa tipped in a drive late in the first half, the only one of 10 shots on the OV cage that got past Otter goalie Ellie Ross.
Coach Stacey Edmunds-Brickell confirmed this week that an earlier loss at St. Johnsbury was now a forfeit win for OV; the Hilltoppers reportedly used an ineligible fifth-year player in a number of games that they later had to forfeit.
