Middlebury Biology department to host talk on “The Microbial Worlds Inside Us”

MIDDLEBURY — “The microbial worlds inside us” is the title of a talk being presented on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 4:30 p.m.,  in Room 216 of Middlebury College’s Bicentennial Hall.
Dr. Libusha Kelley of the Department of Systems & Computational Biology and Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine will explore how the microbes that live in our body influence human health.
Kelley’s lab studies how differences in the microbial communities between individuals can affect how we process food and how we respond to drugs. the talk explores why the same exposure to the human microbiome, for example exposure to a drug or an inflammatory condition, can lead to different outcomes in different individuals.
The talk is sponsored by the Department of Biology and the George B. Saul II Lecture Fund, and is free and open to the public.
