Farmers to meet with public at Nov. 9 forum

MIDDLEBURY — On Thursday, Nov. 9, local farmers are taking some time off the farm after the harvest to meet with interested community members who have questions about farming practices in Vermont, today, and in the future. A wide variety of local farmers will be available to discuss the practices they use on their farms to protect water quality, conserve the soil and remain economically viable in today’s markets.
In 2017, there were over 7,000 farms that contributed to the health and vitality of Vermont. Here’s a chance to hear some of their stories and ask questions. Farmers will discuss, first-hand, some of the challenges their farms are facing and the strategies they are using to overcome them.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided. It will be held at Middlebury College’s Twilight Hall, 50 Franklin Street, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
