Police charge Middlebury man with sex offense

MIDDLEBURY — Vermont State Police have charged Tyler Dunton, 24, of Middlebury with aggravated sexual assault based on a Dec. 10 incident in Cornwall.
Police allege that Dunton “engaged in a sexual act without consent, where the victim sustained a serious bodily injury as a result.”
State police detectives assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation investigated the sexual assault complaint and obtained a warrant for Dunton’s arrest on Dec. 19.
On Jan. 4, members of the Windham County Sherriff’s Department found and took Dunton into custody. Dunton was then arraigned in Vermont Superior Court’s Windham County Criminal Division in Brattleboro, where according to a state police press release he was ordered held without bail.
