Vergennes Police Log: City police busy dealing with cold weather crashes

VERGENNES — Accidents, many caused by last week’s snowy weather, kept Vergennes police busy between Jan. 1 and 7.
One accident led to charges for a Glens Falls, N.Y., resident. On Jan. 6 police cited Collin S. Boerem, 19, for driving under the influence of drugs after his vehicle struck two other vehicles at the downtown intersection of Main and Green streets.
On both Jan. 1 and 2 police handled minor two-car accidents on Main Street, and on Jan. 4 they responded to minor two-car accidents on Main Street and on South Water Street near the Small City Market, and also helped a motorist whose vehicle slid off of West Main Street near Hopkins Road.
On Jan. 6 Vergennes police helped Vermont State Police by dealing with a one-car accident in Panton on Panton Road, and on Jan. 7 they helped another motorist whose car slid off West Main Street.
In other incidents between Jan. 1 and 7 Vergennes police:
•  On Jan. 2 went to Vergennes Union High School to help after a water main broke there.
•  On Jan. 2 went to Vermont State Police’s New Haven barracks to help evaluate a DUI-drugs suspect.
•  On Jan. 4 ticketed two cars parked on Main Street in violation of the city’s wintertime overnight parking van.
•  On Jan. 4 referred a resident with a complaint of a possible child custody agreement violation to Family Court.
•  On Jan. 5 heard from two Green Street residents involved in a dispute about contracting materials that had been dumped on a lawn; police told the parties it was a civil matter.
•  On Jan. 5 helped Milton police by issuing a subpoena to a city resident.
•  On Jan. 7 helped state police on Greenbush Road in Ferrisburgh.
•  On Jan. 7 looked unsuccessfully for a man reported to be looking in windows in the Booth Woods neighborhood.
