Rutland man convicted of sex related crimes in Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — A Rutland man was convicted last week of several offenses involving a Middlebury child.
After a four-day trial at the Addison Superior Court, criminal division, a jury on Jan. 23 found Jason Dukette, 38, of Rutland attempted lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, possession of child pornography, and indecent material to a minor.
The conviction stems from incidents in September 2015. On Sept. 30 of that year the Vermont Department for Children and Families received a report of possible sexual abuse of a child. An investigation was opened immediately by Middlebury Police Det. Kris Bowdish and Katie Colligan of the Department for Children and Families, with the assistance of Det. Trooper Barnes of the Vermont State Police.
Authorities report that the girl involved in the case was between age 8 and 11 at the time.
Dukette was released on conditions pending his March 19 sentencing hearing.
