Indoor track and field athletes vie in Granite State meet
PLYMOUTH, N.H. — Indoor track and field athletes from Mount Abraham, Vergennes and Middlebury union high schools posted strong Division II results on Saturday at a meet hosted by Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.
Winning events were Mount Abe senior Lydia Pitts, who claimed the triple jump with an effort of 34 feet, 10.5 inches, and the VUHS boys’ four-by-800-meter relay team of Spencer Hurlburt, Xander DeBlois, Gabe Praamsma and Wade Mullin, who prevailed in 9:37.2.
Pitts also placed sixth at 55 meters in 8:18, while Hurlburt was fifth in the 1,500 in 4:51.78 and eighth in the 1,000 in 3:10.33.
MUHS athlete C.J. Bryant placed in three events, taking second at 300 meters in 39.59, third in the long jump with a leap of 18-1; and fifth in the 55 at 6.98.
Another five Eagles competed, topped by Emma Radler’s second-place finish in the pole vault at 7-6.
Also for Mount Abe:
• Aidan May took sixth in the 1,500 in 4:52.59 and 10th in the 1,000 in 3:12.50.
• Abby Perlee was seventh in the triple jump at 29-3.5 and 13th in the long jump at 13-0.5.
• Ross Carr finished eighth in the 600 in 1:37.17 and ninth in the 300 in 41.24.
• Elizabeth Siminitus took 14th in the 1,000 in 3:45.74.
