Ripton town meeting wrap-up 2018

RIPTON — Ripton residents at their town meeting passed all the articles on their warning, including a general fund budget of $ 255,362 and a highway spending plan of $359,400 for fiscal year 2018-2019.
The combined proposal of $614,762 was up around $40,000 from the $574,547 that residents approved last year for town services.
Other articles endorsed by voters included:
•  $41,000 for the Ripton Volunteer Fire and First Response Department.
•  $7,000 for the Ripton Cemetery Commission.
•  A combined total of $22,316 for various Addison County human services agencies.
There were no contested elections on the Ripton Town Meeting Day ballot this year.
Elected without competition were Ronald Wimett, selectboard, three years; Alison Dickinson, town clerk, one year; Carolyn Smith, town treasurer, one year; Kathleen Sullivan, delinquent tax collector, one year; and Timothy Hanson, town moderator, one year.
Ripton residents are part of the consolidated Addison Central School District that delivers K-12 public education to seven Middlebury-area towns. See separate story, this issue, on how the 2018-2019 ACSD and Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center budgets fared at the polls.
