Hartford tops improving Otter Valley lacrosse squad

BRANDON — The Otter Valley Union High School boys’ lacrosse team dropped a home game to Division II title contender Hartford on Saturday, 6-0.
Hartford, which has lost only to D-I Mount Mansfield, improved to 4-1, while the Otters dropped to 1-2. OV goalie Alex Stevens made 13 saves in the setback.
Despite the result, which followed a 16-0 home loss to D-I Woodstock on Wednesday and an dramatic overtime league win vs. Lamoille earlier in the week, Coach Jesse Milliman was not unhappy with the effort.
“They worked really hard today, and played a very good D-II team tough,” Milliman said.
Holding the Hurricanes to six goals was a positive, and Milliman was also pleased with his attack even without production to show for what he said was an improved effort.
“I think we played pretty solid team defense and communicated better as a unit, but perhaps more importantly we were able to put together some sustained offensive possessions. We worked really hard on our offense this week in practice. Also, the guys worked really hard on ground balls and in the transition game,” he said.
