Good homes sought for rescued dogs
MONKTON — Attention dog lovers and people with big hearts: Champlain Valley Canine Rescue (CVCR) — a non-profit group that rescues and offers for adoption dogs that would otherwise meet their demise in overcrowded kill shelters in various Southern states — needs your help.
The CVCR needs a foster/permanent home for a puppy found near the body of a South Carolina child who on July 1 had been sexually abused prior to being murdered, allegedly by his mother and a boyfriend. Rescue volunteer Valerie Mullin of Monkton said the puppy, named Moses, is currently in a foster home in South Carolina. She called Moses a “large breed of dog,” with additional details to follow.
“We hardly ever know the breed of what we rescue and can only give our best guess,” explained Mullin, who is already fostering several dogs.
The organization needs Vermont volunteer(s) to temporarily or permanently adopt Moses and a couple other dogs recently saved from kill shelters in South Carolina. Anyone able to help should email [email protected] for more details, or visit the CVCR Facebook page at facebook.com/ChamplainValleyCanineRescue.
If you can’t adopt a dog, CVCR officials would gratefully accept donations to transport the dogs to Vermont and pay for food and veterinary expenses.
