Note of appreciation: Granville school thankful for community support

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Corner School Resource Center of Granville, Vt. (CSRC), I want to express our deepest appreciation to all the businesses and individuals of the Mad and White River Valleys who helped make our August Charter Day Celebration a joyful success. Many thanks are owed to Bisbees, The Hardware at Rochester, McKenzie of Vermont, The Rochester Cafe, Sandy’s Books and Bakery, Shaw’s, The Store (Waitsfield) and The Warren Store for making our preserves competition and cook-out such delicious fun.
The illustrious bakers of Granville also outdid themselves with cookies, pies, cakes and bread at our bake sale. A special nod goes to Nancy Demers for manning the booth, as well as Eileen Dague, Jamie Dague and Robin Hagerman for their taste and expertise as judges of preserves both savory and sweet.
Many members of our community also donated art and collectibles to the Corner School’s table, organized by Chris Millard, at the townwide yard sale, including handblown glass from Michael Egan, prints by Helen Dillon, and folk sculpture by Michael Cunningham.
All proceeds from the event benefitted the CSRC’s ongoing efforts to renovate the Corner School, a beautiful, intact example of 19th century, one-room schoolhouse architecture, which we plan to turn into a community center available for public use in the summer of 2020. Watch the transformation and find out more at cornerschoolvt.org.
