The Logger takes his tour to Bristol’s Holley Hall

BRISTOL — Rusty DeWees, a.k.a. “The Logger,” will perform comedy, music and stories, in a benefit for the Bristol Recreation Department, at Holley Hall, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m..
“The Addison County area is perfect for my “Tiny Town Hall Tour,” DeWees said. “Surely Bristol has a cozy feel … it’ll be some fun having some fun at Holley Hall, and always nice to raise money for local efforts.”
DeWees’ one-man comedy shows are best described as Blue Collar Comedy meets Prairie Home Companion. “It’s easy to love the core Vermont and New York Adirondack areas,” he said. “I’ve played them deferentially, and with great affection dozens of times — area audiences feel like old friends at this point.
“For the Tiny Town Hall Tour, I’ll perform an all-new set of original comedy, and I’ll perform an original poignant piece Vermont Farmers will especially understand,” he explained. “I’ll throw in a classic Logger bit or two, sing, play guitar and of course there’ll be crowd work, so don’t come late … or sneeze if you don’t want to be in the show.”
When asked why he’s settling into smaller venues like Bristol’s Holley Hall, DeWees had this to say: “Communities work hard to preserve their local arts spaces and theaters, and I’ll be blessed to play a good number of them the next few years. Smaller halls are great and are like old guitars — they’re more fun to play, and the sound is better cause I can go acoustic. As I go forward in life, I’ll enjoy going backward in time regarding showman style and substance.”
DeWees will perform on his 1967 Martin D-28 at Holley Hall for this uniquely modern, yet old-time traditional evening of entertainment, for all ages, longtime fans and first-timers. “Show up on a lawn or farm tractor, get in free,” DeWees added. “One person per tractor.”
Tickets are $22, and are available at thelogger.com or on Eventbrite.com (search “Holley Hall”).
