Middlebury men’s hoop earns NCAA bid
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury College men’s basketball on Monday earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III tournament after compiling a 20-5 mark through the regular season and the first round of the NESCAC tournament. The program will be making its 11th NCAA appearance in the past 13 years.
The Panthers will compete this weekend in an NCAA Regional hosted by SUNY-Brockport (24-3). At 4 p.m. on Friday Middlebury will take on Westfield State (20-7), followed by host Brockport taking on Coast Guard (14-13) at 6:30 p.m. The winners will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Middlebury’s record includes a 14-0 mark against non-league competition and wins over six teams that earned bids to the NCAA tournament: NESCAC champion Tufts, Stevens Institute, New England College, Babson, Springfield and Worcester Polytechnic.
