Online music festival to bring vocal works to life
If your heart is hungry for live music of the vocal variety, New Haven resident George Jaeger is passing on news of an opportunity to hear some. “My English son-in-law Robin Tyson,” wrote Jaeger, “a graduate of the King’s College Choir and for years a countertenor with the King’s Singers, has more recently been managing choirs, conductors and other musical performers. It all came to a screeching halt when the virus broke out.”
During a drought in live entertainment, this choir member is hoping to reach audiences online during a virtual music festival. “Necessity being the mother of invention” wrote Jaeger, “Robin and his friends at Voces8 struck on the idea of launching a major online music festival, with weekly performances by some of the world’s best vocal groups — to be transmitted in high fidelity format across Europe, Australia, Canada, the U.S., etc.”
The series, called “Live from London,” will include performances on eight Saturdays from Aug. 1 to Oct. 3. Those who sign up can tune in to live performances whenever they feel inclined and will even be allowed to record the performances.
Tickets are $100 for the entire series or $15 for individual shows. More information can be found at voces8.foundation/livefromlondon.
Jaeger wrote, “In the current cultural desert this should be a bright spot for many people who love good choral music.”
