Porter Pediatrics plots return to PMC campus

MIDDLEBURY — The Porter Pediatric Primary Care practice will soon move from their current location at 1330 Exchange St. in Middlebury to a newly available space on the Porter Medical Center campus. According to PMC spokesperson Ron Hallman, this is a multi-phase project that involves major renovations as well as relocations of three different medical practices.
“Rainbow Pediatrics vacated their space in Porter’s Collins building in 2019, providing an opportunity for the first phase of Porter Pediatrics’ move to campus,” Hallman said. “In January, major renovations to that space began in anticipation of the relocation, but were halted after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Now that construction projects are allowed again (under appropriate protocols) we are looking forward to finishing the first phase of renovations, which will allow our Pediatric colleagues and their staff to join us on South Street campus in September.”
Phase II of the project involves the expansion of Porter Pediatrics into an adjoining space in the Collins Building that is currently the home of Middlebury Family Health. Between Sept. 17 and 19, Middlebury Family Health will move to 1330 Exchange St., after it is vacated by Porter Pediatrics. This will allow a second round of major renovations to take place in the former Middlebury Family Health space, in preparation for Porter Pediatrics’ expanded new home.
In July, Porter received an anonymous $50,000 donation in support of this $1.2 million project. Efforts to raise money for the renovations will continue throughout Porter’s fall annual campaign, according to Porter Director of Development Amy Bodette Barr. “This is an important project that will benefit our community’s pediatric patients and their families in so many ways and I know that our community will respond generously to our campaign, as they have done in the past,” she said.
