I have five children in the Addison Central School District, my oldest at Mary Hogan, and the other four at Cornwall School. Our Superintendent, Peter Burrows, has caused a stir with our children’s schedule, so I would like to place a letter on the current issues, and his failure to recognize parents’ concerns.
Peter Burrows has decided our children can go to school two days a week, based on the last name alphabet (Monday and Tuesday last name A-L, Thursday Friday last name M through Z), rather than the full week to practice “safe social distancing and lower exposure.” 
Here is where our problem lies:
Burrows has decided to allow Mary Johnson Children’s Center to allow on site daycare for the children on their off days. This will mean children from Mary Hogan, Cornwall and Salisbury all in the gym at Mary Hogan school, in groups, for $39 per day. With that being said, it seems a bit unfair that our children are losing time learning in the classroom, but they are exposing them to other children, from other schools, in different groups in the same school where they are told they cannot attend class five days a week.  
We as parents have expressed our concerns to Mr. Burrows, and he has made it clear that this is his decision, and his decision only. Us parents feel that if the children are allowed to be at the school, in a different group, for a pretty high rate (as many of us parents are already struggling financially with the virus), then they should just be in class, five days a week, as a full class. 
Many children in the county attended summer camps that were groups of 15-20 children, five days a week, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. So why can they not attend school for full days, five days a week? I feel every parent deserves to know just how sad it is that our superintendent, who is in charge of our children’s academic wellbeing, has decided to hold back on our children’s educational needs with no reasoning or excuse. It seems he is more worried about “following suit” with other counties than he is our child’s actual education.
