Lincoln news for Oct. 1

LINCOLN — The Lincoln Community School has hosted a vibrant Mentor Program since 2014. Members from the Lincoln community are matched with LCS students. The commitment is one hour a week or two hours every two weeks, meeting in school or out of school, or a combination of the two. It’s a win-win situation! And though we are in the time of a pandemic, the Lincoln Mentor Program is going strong (with the necessary safety precautions in place). If interested, or for more information, please email Lincoln Mentor Coordinator Beth Nelson at [email protected].

THANK YOU FROM LCS
Cheering-on signs have been posted and delicious treats have been enjoyed! We discovered nearly 30 mums placed outside our front doors, donated by an anonymous and gracious person or persons. These mums are so appreciated by all at LCS. It was fun to see staff walking to their cars that afternoon, hauling not only their school bags but also a big and beautiful mum. Thank you.

FROM MAUSD
Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, MAUSD will be welcoming back all PreK-6th grade students for in-person instruction five days a week. There will still be an all-remote option offered for families through the virtual elementary school system. The hybrid option will no longer be available starting Oct. 5, so families will need to choose either the in-person option or the 100% remote option. Students in grades 7-12 will remain in a hybrid model until further notice.
Each Wednesday will be an early release day for elementary schools. This will provide time for in-person and remote teachers to connect regarding students and provide time for planning, collaboration and professional development.
Starting Oct. 5, ELP will no longer be offering full day childcare. ELP will return to offering its after school and early release day programming. Families will receive an email with a link to the registration form for your school. Please complete a registration form even if you have registered for other ELP programs recently.
Until next time … Opportunities Don’t Happen, You Create Them. When You Stop Chasing The Wrong Things, You Give The Right Things A Chance To Catch You. Don’t Let The Fear Of Losing Be Greater Than The Excitement Of Winning.
