RUTLAND — Rolland Lucien Cloutier, 80, formerly of Whiting, died Nov. 24, 2020, peacefully at his home after a long illness.
He was born July 28, 1940, in Crysler, Ontario, Canada, the son of Theophile and Flore (Richer) Cloutier.
He came to the U.S.A. in 1961 and later became a citizen. Rolland volunteered many years for the Whiting Fire Department, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree.
After growing up with eight light-hearted siblings he always found time to joke and prank with family, friends and co-workers. He earned himself 20 years of retirement, where he continued his passions, camping as a member of the Good Sam Club and traveling to Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judith (Desrocher) Cloutier; children Karen Cloutier and Paul (Ali) Cloutier; grandchildren Michael, Quinton and Victoria; sister Estelle and brother Eugene; and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.S.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his son Ronald Cloutier; by his brothers Lionel, Firmin, Hector, Armond and Ernest; and sister Cecile.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Middlebury, with the Rev. Luke Austin as the celebrant.
