Council to interview manager candidates

VERGENNES — After an executive session on Tuesday to evaluate applications for a new permanent city manager, the Vergennes City Council selected seven for preliminary interviews.
Interim City Manager Renny Perry said the council has scheduled three more private sessions this week and next to allow councilors to talk with the candidates who made the initial cut: Friday, Dec. 11; Wednesday, Dec. 16; and Friday, Dec. 18, all at 5:30 p.m.
Perry said advertising for the position opened by the departure after less than a year by former City Manager Daniel Hofman drew 23 candidates.
The council decided to make advertising ongoing, and more applications are possible.
The clock is ticking: Perry’s 24-hour-a-week interim contract will expire on Jan. 11.
