Panther Chloe Levins becomes U.S. biathlete

CHLOE LEVINS, A standout golfer while at Middlebury College, this week was named to the U.S. biathlon team and will compete at the world championships of the winter sport in Slovenia this month.

A 2020 Middlebury College graduate and Rutland native on Monday was named to the U.S. team that will compete in the biathlon world championships beginning next week.
Chloe Levins was named to the 10-person roster for the upcoming IBU Biathlon World Championships announced by the U.S. Biathlon International Competition Committee. The squad consists of five men and five women with Team USA allotted four start positions per gender in each individual race. The IBU Biathlon World Championships begin Feb. 10 in Pokljuka, Slovenia.
Levins, 22, will be competing in her first senior-level world championship, but she has a lot of experience on the world stage as a junior racer in the sport that combines cross country skiing and shooting a gun. She was 19th in individual and 17th in single mixed relay at the 2019 IBU Open Junior European Championships in Norway in 2019. Earlier this year she placed 19th in short individual competition an IBU Cup race in Arber, Germany.
Also an excellent golfer, Levins won the Vermont State Amateur Championship on the links in 2019, and competed for the Panthers. She was a pre-med student and Middlebury and graduated with a degree in Neuroscience.
Levins was joined on the US biathlon team by fellow Vermonters Leif Nordgren (Hinesburg) and Susan Dunklee (Barton).
Competition at the 2021 IBU World Championships gets underway with the mixed relay on Feb. 10 and concludes on Feb. 21 with the Women’s 12.5K. The U.S. team did not announced which races Levins will compete in.
