Vermont State Police Log: Two cited for DUI in separate incidents

ADDISON COUNTY — Troopers at the New Haven barracks of the Vermont State Police cited two men for driving under the influence in separate cases last week.
In the first incident, troopers at around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 3 responded to Knox Hill Road in Orwell for the report of an intoxicated man who was lost and out of gas. Police identified the driver as 65-year-old Roger LaDuc of Castleton.
Police report that LaDuc was driving on Knox Hill Road when his vehicle slid off the roadway and became stuck in the snow. While speaking with LaDuc, troopers detected indicators of alcohol impairment and screened him at roadside.
Troopers determined LaDuc had been operating his vehicle while intoxicated and they took him to the New Haven barracks, processed him, and cited him for DUI, second offense.
Police released LaDuc to a sober party.
Two days later, at just before 8 p.m. on Feb. 5, troopers responded to a one-car, rollover crash on Munger Street in New Haven. Officers spoke with the driver, identified as Luke Freidin, 24, of New Haven, and said they detected signs of impairment.
After screening Freidin police arrested him, processed him at the barracks and cited him for DUI.
The only other case that state police in New Haven reported was the tragic death of 39-year-old Kristle Humiston of Brandon in a snowmobile crash at Lake Dunmore in Salisbury on the evening of Feb. 6. Humiston was a passenger on a snowmobile driven by Amanda Warren, 43, of Salisbury, who was hospitalized.
