FFA fruit sales proceeded this winter

The Middlebury and Vergennes FFA groups were able to hold their annual joint fruit sale in November and December with online ordering and curbside pickup at the high schools.
Switching from primarily in-person sales to online sales had benefits in simplifying the payment process and allowing customers to order again in future years even if they are not connected with a current FFA member, noted Bill VanDeWeert, the Pre-Technical Agricultural Program instructor for Hannaford Career Center, who works out of Vergennes Union High School.
With large events cancelled, FFA activities have been happening at the classroom level. Vergennes FFA met on Zoom in 2020 to elect new officers. In the Mechanical Science classes students have been working toward earning their tractor safety certification, learning to design and build electric circuits that follow code, and learning metal fabrication processes.
With the start of the new semester, students have begun learning about engine systems and finding specifications.
