Pedestrian struck by car near park in Brandon

BRANDON — A vendor at the Brandon Farmers Market was hit by a car while crossing the street recently.
Lyn Garro, 63, of Leicester was crossing Carver Street near Central Park at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, when police say she was hit by a car. Garro sells baked goods at the farmers market, which is held every Friday from May until Oct. 7. 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.
According to Brandon Police Officer Daniel Delgado, a car driven by Marion Gargis, 68, of Brandon turned onto Carver Street from Union Street near the Rite-Aid Pharmacy and allegedly struck Garro.
Witnesses said Garro was hit hard and thrown into the air before landing in the street. She was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center, as was the badly shaken up driver, and both were released with no serious injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.
