Otter Valley football scores 53, Poultney, 0

POULTNEY — The Otter Valley Union football team on Saturday cruised to its third straight one-sided Division III win, this time defeating host Poultney, 53-0.
Quarterback Carson Leary completed eight of 12 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns and ran for three touchdowns while carrying the ball 12 times for 151 yards.
Tyson Cram picked up 158 yards on five carries, including a 46-yard TD run and another run for 65 yards. Brent Nickerson also rushed for more than 100 yards.
In the first half, OV scored on a 26-yard pass from Leary to Robertas Nielsen, on a 10-yard Leary run, a 1-yard Leary run followed by a two-point pass to William Ross, a 16-yard Leary pass to William Ross, and a 45-yard Leary burst.
In the third quarter, Nickerson added a 5-yard run, and Cram scored from 46 yards out. Collin Parker scored the final OV TD in the fourth quarter.
Poultney quarterback Justin Rogers went 5-of-9 for 69 yards, but was sacked five times, by Jared Felkl, Erik Sherman. Nickerson, Tyler Allen and Parker. Greg Whitney added a fumble recovery as the Otters dropped Poultney to 1-2.
Possibly the biggest test of the Otters’ season awaits this Saturday: Woodstock, winner of the 2011, 2012 and 2013 D-III titles, will visit Markowski Field at 1 p.m. The Wasps are undefeated so far this season, while the three teams OV has beaten by a collective score of 170-12 have won just twice among them.
