Polar Bears nip Panther women’s soccer

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Host Bowdoin dealt the Middlebury College women’s soccer team a 1-0 setback on Saturday. The Panthers (2-3-1, 1-2-1 NESCAC) were set to play at Keene State on Wednesday night and will host Colby on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (3-2, 2-2) scored about 21 minutes into the game and made it stand for the final 69 minutes.
Kiersten Turner scored the lone goal 20:54 into the contest after beating Middlebury keeper Kate Reinmuth on a loose ball and poking it home.
Polar Bear goalie Bridget McCarthy made four of her six saves in the first half and was tested by Adriana Gildner late in the second frame. Reinmuth stopped two shots in 29:59 before being relieved by Emily Eslinger, who made three saves the rest of the  way.
Bowdoin held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks and a 12-9 advantage in shots.
