Monkton seeks new member for Mt. Abe school board

MONKTON — The Mount Abraham Union Middle/High School Board is seeking a Monkton resident interested in serving on the 13-member school board as the result of a recent vacancy.
After seven years of service, longtime Mount Abe board member Shawna Sherwin submitted her letter of resignation to ANeSU board chair Dawn Griswold on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Sherwin was elected this past spring to a three-year term, which officially expires in 2018. Whoever is appointed to fill Sherwin’s spot will stand for election themselves on Town Meeting Day next March.
Members of the Monkton community are invited to submit a letter of interest to serve as a board member by Friday, Nov. 13.
The Monkton Central School Board will meet with interested individuals on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at their November board meeting (time to be determined) at Mount Abraham Union Middle/High School. Board members anticipate appointing a new member at that time.
Email submissions to [email protected] or send by U.S. Mail to: Monkton Central School Board, c/o Catrina DiNapoli, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Addison Northeast Supervisory Union, 72 Munsill Avenue, Suite 601, Bristol, VT 05443.
It is the responsibility of the town school board to appoint a qualified person to fill this vacancy until an election at a special or the next annual meeting is held.
