EAST MONTPELIER — Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin and his longtime partner, Katie Hunt, were married Tuesday evening at a small ceremony at their home in East Montpelier.
The couple were married by Shumlin’s sister-in-law, Evie Lovett. Attending the ceremony were the governor’s two daughters, Olivia and Becca, as well as his brother, Jeff Shumlin.
Through a press  release, Shumlin and Hunt, described in the release as Vermont’s first lady, offered the following statement:
“We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful partnership and to be able to spend the rest of our lives together.”
Hunt and Shumlin were engaged in June. The couple plan to live in Southern Vermont, where they both grew up, following the completion of Shumlin’s third term in office in early 2017.
