Otter Valley girls win; Eagles and Tigers lose home basketball contests

ADDISON COUNTY — Otter Valley won a tight road game to highlight local high school girls’ basketball in the latter half of last week. In other action, Middlebury and Mount Abraham dropped home contests. Vergennes was idle.
OTTERS
On Wednesday,  the Otters edged host Division I foe Brattleboro, 32-28, in a tight contest: The 1-5 Colonels led at the half, 17-16. OV had balanced scoring to complement strong defense: Sophia Bloomer andCourtney Bushey recorded seven points apiece, while Amy Jones andLexi Hedding added six each. The Otters improved to 3-3 with their third straight win and played their fourth straight game decided by four points or fewer.
TIGERS
On Saturday, visiting Colchester dealt MUHS a 55-45 setback despite 33 points from Tiger sophomore Keagan Dunbar. The Lakers improved to 4-3 as Saige Papariello scored 22 points, while the Tigers dropped back to 3-3.
EAGLES
On Saturday, visiting North Country, a Division I Lake Division newcomer, broke through for its first win, 55-30, at the Eagles’ expense. The 1-5 Falcons’ Kylie Wright led all scorers with 20 points, while Emma Carter led the 1-7 Eagles with 14 points.
