Opinion: Nation needs ‘wisdom of the gender’ to lead us

I have given money to Bernie three times this year, but I am not going to vote for him.
I am a multi-generational Vermonter, retired businessman, and a veteran who was a Marine in Vietnam. And I’ve always voted for what I felt was the best man: Republican, Democrat, or Independent. This year the realistic choices are Sanders, Clinton, Rubio and Cruz, maybe Bush or even Trump. However, I just saw a great staged reading of a new play about Elizabeth Cady Stanton at the Town Hall Theater. The play was a reminder of the long fight women had before they were even allowed to vote. It was also a reminder of valuable lessons history offers. Check out our history and you may agree with me that putting the best man in charge is not what we need to do.
What we really need is a GENDER CHANGE in leadership, not a best man. If we are able to get women in charge then eventually our country and the world will operate more like families — probably still fight, but not kill each other as much and maybe find ways to actually get along when we don’t agree. Clinton is the right gender and she’s qualified, but I would vote for Fiorina if she were the only woman in the race. I think history shows clearly we need the wisdom of the gender that is better able to get kids to adulthood even when their partners are more work than help.
