Local girls’ soccer teams all bested

ADDISON COUNTY — The county’s high school girls’ soccer teams found tough going in the latter half of last week, as Vergennes, Middlebury and Mount Abraham all dropped contests.

COMMODORES
On Saturday, host Milton (5-1) defeated the Commodores, 3-1. Ciara McClay scored on a late penalty kick, and goalie Anya Sonwaldt made seven saves asVUHSdropped to 3-2-1.
TIGERS
On Wednesday, the Tigers earned an 11-6 edge in shots on goal over visiting Rice, but the 4-1 Green Knights converted their chances more efficiently to take a 3-0 victory. Rice goalie Hannah Miller made 11 saves, while Tiger goalie Riley Fenster stopped three shots as MUHS dropped to 2-2-1.
EAGLES
On Wednesday, visiting Milton improved to 4-1 with a 4-0 win over the Eagles. Mount Abe goalie Genysis Berube made six saves as the Eagles fell to 1-4. Yellowjacket goalie Madison North stopped four shots.
