MUHS girls’ hockey still unbeaten

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team picked up a pair of one-sided victories last week to improve to 5-0-1. The Tigers are in a three-way battle with Rutland (7-0-1) and Essex (6-1) for the lead in Division I.
On Wednesday, Helen Anderson’s four goals helped the Tigers in an 8-0 victory over visiting Burr and Burton. Lexi Bartlett scored twice, Julia Carone chipped in a goal and an assist, and Satchel McLaughlin added a goal. Goalie Katie Billings backstopped the win with six stops.
On Saturday, Carone scored three times as the Tigers blanked host South Burlington, 7-0. Billings made nine saves as she  and the Tigers picked up their third straight shutout.
Also contributing to the attack were Andi Boe (a goal and two assists), Monroe Cromis (a goal and an assist), Anderson and Molly Wetmore (a goal apiece) and Bartlett (three assists). Rebel goalie Lyssa Tan made 33 saves.
