Community players set auditions for ‘Working’

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Community Players will hold auditions for the spring musical, Stephen Schwartz’s “Working,” on Monday and Tuesday evenings, Jan. 9-10.
Actors should arrive at Mary Hogan Elementary School between 6:30 and 7 p.m. to register for the auditions, which will run from 7-10 p.m. each night. If needed, callbacks will be held Thurs., Jan. 12.
Those wishing to take part should be prepared to sing, move and read (no need to prepare a song); the Players will teach a song and a dance. There are 26 characters, ranging from one role for a 9- to 13-year-old boy, to fascinating roles for a variety of adult ages (some appropriate for older teens). There are also some non-singing and non-speaking roles available. Most actors will play multiple roles.
The musical is based on the book of the same name Studs Terkel. The songs were written by seven composers including Lin-Manuel Miranda and James Taylor.
