Hancock, Granville community church to close doors in Feb.

HANCOCK / GRANVILLE — The Community Church of Hancock and Granville will cease operation next month and hold its last regular church service this Sunday. The church shares space with the Hancock Town Hall on Route 100.
Members of the United Church of Christ congregation voted on the closing at their recent annual meeting in Hancock, according to parishioner Roger Comes.
The last regular church service will be Sunday, Jan. 29, at 9:30 a.m. There will also be a closing ceremony with communion on Feb. 19, at 9:30 a.m.
“All are welcome to attend either service,” Comes wrote to the Independent. “It is our hopes and prayers that another denomination will come in to occupy the space at the sanctuary located above the Hancock Town Hall. Thank you all for contributing through the years in whatever form to keep us alive and going for the past 21 years as the United Church of Christ.”
