HELENA ARLENE COUSINEAU

BRANDON — Helena Arlene Cousineau, age 86, passed peacefully Aug. 17, 2026, at Mountain View Center in Rutland.

Helena was born in Middlebury July 22, 1940. She was the daughter of William and Grace (Ladd) Vassau. She grew up in East Middlebury and graduated from Middlebury High School, class of 1958. She co-owned and ran a bakery in Goshen for many years, and worked at Blueberry Hill Inn in Goshen. She served the town of Goshen as an auditor and Town Clerk for many years. She was an avid knitter, making many sweaters for family members and friends. Most of all she enjoyed being a grandmother and was happiest surrounded by family.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Glen Cousineau (Christa Thomas) of Orwell and Jeffrey Cousineau (Paula Ketcham) of Brandon. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Claudia and William Cousineau and Nick and Emily Jackson. Her sister Gearldine Jackson of Ripton also survives her as well as son-in-law David Jackson of Panton. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son Daniel Cousineau, her daughter Rhonda Jackson and brother Ronald Vassau.

A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Mountain View Center for their compassionate care they provided Helena.
