Back to school arrives Wednesday
ADDISON COUNTY — It’s a big week for kids in Addison County, who will see their summer end and the school year begin this Wednesday, Aug. 26.
All the children in the principal school districts serving Addison County will get on the bus, hop in the car, ride the bike or maybe even walk to their first day of the 2026-2027 school year.
Ya!!!
This includes the Addison Central School District in the Middlebury area; Mount Abraham Unified School District in the Bristol Area; Addison Northwest School District in the Vergennes area; Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union in the Brandon area including the Addison County towns of Leicester, Whiting and Goshen; Lincoln School District; and the Slate Valley Union School District serving Orwell.

Summer is a little longer on the other side of the mountain. Some of the kids in the Route 100 towns of Granville and Hancock attend school in Middlebury, but for those who go to school in the White River Valley Supervisory Union, their school starts next Monday, Aug. 31.
