LEICESTER — Firefighters from Brandon, Salisbury and Whiting on Friday morning dosed a fire at a home off Route 7 in Leicester. One firefighter was injured, but all the civilians were OK.

The home sustained some damage from smoke and flames, but it didn’t appear to be a total loss.

The fire broke out on the second floor of a white home at 2139 Route 7, about a half-mile north of Leicester Four Corners sometime after 8 a.m. The residence, which is set back quite a ways from the road, was identified as the Cole Farm. It was recently sold, and it is unclear if anyone was in the home at the time of the fire.

The first call  came into the Brandon Fire Department at 8:40 a.m. Brandon Assistant Fire Chief Ron Euber said the smoke was pretty heavy. One firefighter was overcome by the smoke and was taken for treatment.

The blaze did not spread to any of the farm buildings beyond the home.

Route 7 was closed to traffic between Fern Lake Road and Maple Street for an hour and a half.

The first responders were cleaning up in preparation to leave  at a quarter to 11 a.m.
