Letter to the editor: Vote Bishop for ACSD school board

It is my intention to express enthusiasm for Vance Bishop as he looks to run for the important position of ACSD school board member.

I have known Vance for three years now. His son and my own are greatly involved in our area youth wrestling program, along with other scholastic programs and athletics here in Middlebury.

I believe that Vance also contributes by volunteering in other sports programs as well. It’s wonderful that he is demonstrating his background in teaching and encouraging participation to keep kids learning new skills while staying active in our town.

Many times in our conversations, a newly read book becomes a topic of discussion, which helps me know he is well-read and thoughtful.

It is clear that in running for the ACSD school board position, he has defined goals for bridging outstanding needs with available resources while taking into account all perspectives.

In interactions we’ve shared, Vance has shown himself to be a conscientious listener, which I’ve appreciated in a world full of voices, important contributions, and ideas hoping to be heard. To me, this is an admirable trait. His adoration for the community and encouragement of broad involvement show how he accounts for many perspectives while also emphasizing values.

I will be endorsing Vance because he has great leadership characteristics. Through experience, he has gained perspective and truly leads by putting others first.
