Middlebury takes to the street for Memorial Day
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury American Legion Post 27 in conjunction with the town of Middlebury will also hold its annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 29.
Themed “Honoring the Memory,” the parade will honor the more than 1 million men and women who have lost their lives defending America since the Revolutionary War.
Post 27 Adjutant Tom Scanlon, who leads all of the state American Legions as the Department of Vermont Commander, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the parade this year.
The parade, which will include its usual accompaniment of military color guard, fire trucks, bands, civic groups and cute kids, will commence at 9 a.m. going from Porter Field Road off South Main Street, through the traffic circle, around the green and ending at Court Square. There will be a ceremony following the parade at the Soldier’s Monument in front of the Town Hall Theater.
Those participating will start forming up at 8 a.m. in the parking lot on Porter Field Road.

In keeping with the intent of the parade, Honoring the Memory, no political or commercial advertising will be permitted.
