Monkton News: Voice Activation workshop dives deep on Saturday

MONKTON — Meet in the Monkton Town Hall Community Room on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 9 to 10 a.m. for Community Yoga. Laurel Kelly will be guiding this slow flow class, suitable for all levels of experience. Bring your own mat. Yoga blocks and straps are provided. This class benefits the Russell Memorial Library with your donation to attend. Contact the library at 802-453-4471 for more information. The Aug. 29 class will be conducted by Lisa Boekman, same time and place.

Don’t forget to mark our calendar for the Tiny Concert at the Monkton Town Hall on Friday, Aug. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. A $20 donation is suggested or donate what you can for an evening of medicine music with Joydah Mae from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Bring a dish to share in a community meal. There is a capacity limit for the town hall so contact Kathleen at [email protected] to RSVP if you wish to attend.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, come to the Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., for a five-hour class of Voice Activation.

This class is a deep dive journey into reconnecting with yourself, your voice and your power. Please bring a yoga mat or something to lie on, a blanket and pillow, water bottle, journal and pen and an open heart. Also bring a dish to share in a potluck meal at the end of the day. It is suggested to eat before coming then share the meal at the end of the day as this is an intensive class so you will need energy to get it done. This class will cost $150. Also on Saturday, Aug. 22, join Melanie Cote for this month’s Poetry Club in the Russell Memorial Library beginning at 10:30 a.m. (The usual Community Room was already booked) Bring a favorite poem to share and discuss. Contact Melanie at [email protected] with any questions.

As usual there are many happenings at the library and Town Hall Community Room. Check in to inquire about events.

Eugenie Doyle continues with Ashtanga Yoga on Sundays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Contact her at [email protected] for more information. This is a free class.

Toddler Storytime continues on Wednesdays. Check with the library at 802-453-4471 for times.

Stitch and Spin happens on the third Sunday of the month. Call the library for details on these and any other events going on.
