Vermont State Police Log for Mar. 6
ADDISON COUNTY — After Vermont State Police stopped a car in Middlebury one day last week, the driver left with a criminal citation and a half-dozen traffic tickets.
On Feb. 25 at around 10 minutes to 11 p.m. a trooper observed a motor vehicle violation on Case Street near Munson Road in Middlebury and pulled over the vehicle. Police said the driver, identified as Crystal M. Hall, 45, of Middlebury, had driver’s license criminally suspended.
While speaking to Hall, the trooper observed indicators of impairment. The officer asked Hall to participate in dexterity testing; when she declined to do so, the trooper arrested Hall and took her to the Middlebury Police Department for processing.
Police cited Hall for refusing to take a driving-under-the-influence test, second offense, and for driving with a criminally suspended license. The traffic tickets were for Condition Of Vehicle, Misuse Of Number Plates, Persons Required To Register, Operating Without Liability Insurance, Operating After Suspension/Revocation/Refusal and Operating Without A License.
If found guilty on all of the traffic tickets, Hall faces potential fines totally $1,002 and two points on her license.
In other recent activity, troopers:
• Arrested Joseph Shaw, 61, of Orwell on a warrant on Feb. 26. At around 3:30 p.m. that Wednesday, state police responded to a landlord/tenant dispute at a home on Route 73 in Orwell. While on scene, troopers encountered Shaw, who they knew had an active warrant for his arrest. They arrested Shaw and detained him until he posted $200 bail.
• Responded to a one-vehicle crash on Feb. 28.
Police report that Eduardo Loyola, 51, of South Burlington was driving a 2024 Chevy Silverado southbound on a Route 22A near East Road in Panton when he hit a patch of ice shortly before 8 a.m. Loyola’s pick-up left the road and struck a utility pole.
No injuries were reported, but the Silverado’s front passenger side sustained damage.
Route 22A was closed to traffic for about 30 minutes as a result of this crash.
Troopers were assisted on scene by the Vergennes Fire Department and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad.
