Middlebury Police Log: Police issue DUI citation

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Felecia L. Betourney, 29, of Leicester for driving under the influence, following a traffic stop on Route 7 South on Feb. 9.

In other action last week, Middlebury police enforced the community’s overnight winter parking ban downtown on Feb. 3, 9 and 10, on College Street on Feb. 5, and on Bakery Lane on Feb. 7.

Police also:

• Gave a ride home to a stranded patient who’d been discharged from Porter Hospital on Feb. 3.

• On Feb. 3, safely disposed of illegal drugs and related paraphernalia that had been collected by staff of a local social service agency.

• Conducted a compliance check on Feb. 3 for a local, registered sex offender.

• Responded to a report of an intoxicated man at the Counseling Service of Addison County office on Main Street on Feb. 3.

• Assisted a local resident who complained of harassing phone calls on Feb. 3.

• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS (MREMS) on an emergency call to a Danyow Drive location area on Feb. 3.

• Assisted MREMS on a service call in the Washington Street area on Feb. 4.

• Checked the welfare of a drunken person in the Maple Street area during the evening of Feb. 5. Police said the person didn’t need assistance.

• Assisted Vermont State Police on Feb. 5 in their pursuit of the driver of a vehicle who had refused to stop, before driving off Paul Allison Lane. Police took the vehicle’s occupants into custody and took them to the New Haven state police barracks.

• Responded to a report of a man yelling at vehicles from the side of Route 7 South on Feb. 5.

• Offered mental health services to a local man on Feb. 5.

• Checked the welfare of people in the Bakery Lane and South Street areas on Feb. 5.

• Gave a courtesy ride to an elderly person who was attempting to walk home in a snowy downtown area on Feb. 6.

• Served a no-trespass order on Feb. 6 on a person on behalf of a Court Square business.

• Responded to a report of campers setting up in a Court Street parking lot on Feb. 6. Police said the campers were moved.

• Arrested Megan M. Amoroso, 36, of Brandon on an outstanding warrant on Feb. 6.

• Responded to a trespassing complaint at a Court Square business on Feb. 7.

• Began a truancy investigation at Middlebury Union High School on Feb. 7.

• Assisted with what police described as a “juvenile problem” at MUHS on Feb. 7.

• Began an investigation on Feb. 8 into a potential assault reported in the Creek Road area.

• Responded to an untimely death report at a Route 7 South location on Feb. 8. Police reported no suspicious circumstances in the case of the deceased, identified as 61-year-old Timothy Edwards Sr. of Middlebury.

• Searched without success for a person who had reportedly been walking during inclement weather on Route 125 East at around 1:37 a.m. on Feb. 9.

• Took into protective custody an intoxicated juvenile who had allegedly been knocking on doors in the Case Street neighborhood on Feb. 10. Police said they turned the youth over to a parent.
