A YOUNG BEAR sow had to be put down after she was shot and injured in Lincoln, orphaning the bear’s two cubs. The female bear had been raising her cubs in the area and was well-known by locals.

This past year, the stories that got the most clicks on our website included the accidental fire that destroyed the home of the Mount Abraham Union High School principal in January, the seemingly random knife attack on Middlebury’s College Street in March, and the small plane crash in Ferrisburgh in September.
