Middlebury Police Log: New Haven man cited for DUI
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Rodrigo Cardosodelima, 44, of New Haven for driving under the influence (second offense), following a 12:33 a.m. traffic stop on North Pleasant Street on Nov. 30.
Police said Cardosodelima refused to provide an evidentiary breath sample.
In addition to making daily checks on the houseless population downtown, Middlebury police enforced the town’s overnight downtown winter parking ban every night between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2. That ban prohibits parking on any town highway between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m., from Nov. 1 through March 31 — except where specifically permitted and signed.
Police also this past week:
• Responded to a trespassing complaint in the North Pleasant Street area on Nov. 25.
• Served a no-trespass order on a person who was no longer welcome at the Charter House Emergency Shelter on North Pleasant Street on Nov. 25.
• Responded to an alleged domestic disturbance at a Valley View Drive home on Nov. 26.
• Were in formed at around 6:30 p.m. that a group of people had been making noise near Mary Hogan Drive on Nov. 26.
• Investigated a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Court Street during the morning of Nov. 26.
• Connected a despondent man to assistance at the Counseling Service of Addison County on Nov. 27.
• Provided traffic control in East Middlebury in support of Vermont State Police, who were investigating a domestic disturbance in Ripton on Nov. 27.
• Helped a driver stranded on Route 7 South get gas for their vehicle on Nov. 27.
• Investigated the possible theft of a wallet from a Court Street address at around 6 p.m. on Nov. 27.
• Investigated a report of a parent being physically abused by her child in the Case Street area on Nov. 28.
• Cited Shawn Lussier, 27, for driving with a criminally suspended license on Court Street on Nov. 28.
• Assisted a local resident who reported receiving threatening text messages on Nov. 29.
• Were informed on Nov. 29 that the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations had initiated an investigation based on evidence gathered at Porter Hospital.
• Assisted state police at a DUI checkpoint at the intersection if Routes 30 and 74 in Cornwall on Nov. 29.
• Received a report about a possible drunken driver on North Pleasant Street on Nov. 29. Police said they stopped the driver and determined he wasn’t impaired.
• Assisted Vermont State Police at a reported domestic incident at a Route 125 home in Cornwall on Nov. 29.
• Were asked on Nov. 30 to check on the welfare of a South Village Green resident who hadn’t been seen for several weeks. Police learned the man was a patient at Helen Porter Rehabilitation & Nursing.
• Responded to a report of a drunken man causing a disturbance in the Court Street area on Nov. 30.
• Responded to a report of potential gunshots in the downtown area at around 5 p.m. on Nov. 30. Police said someone had been setting off fireworks.
• Gave a courtesy ride to a Porter Hospital patient who had no other way to get home on Nov. 30.
• Took an unwell woman to Porter Hospital at 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 1.
• Responded to a report on Dec. 1 of a houseless person seeking shelter in the stairwell of a Main Street apartment building.
• Received a report about a runaway dog in the Chipman Hill area on Dec. 1.
